I hope you are all getting ready for a happy and blessed
holiday season. Here are a few things you
can do to make sure your holiday season is also safe:
Don’t overload your electrical circuits. You should always plan a little bit of a road
map when putting up lights and make sure that you’re not putting too much
strain on one of the many circuits in your home. That is the easiest way to avoid a house fire
during the holidays.
Keep your tree fresh and watered! If you’re using a real tree, it is super
important that you keep the tree freshly watered. A dry tree with lights hanging on it can have
potentially disastrous consequences.
Use a timer. Not only
will it keep your lights from burning out but a good timer will also help ease
the strain on your home’s electrical system, while helping you keep your costs
down as well.
Burglar Boxes. Every
year, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department puts out burglar boxes, designed
to prevent burglars from driving around looking for houses with big boxes for
appliances, televisions, and other large ticket items. Those boxes act as calling cards to would be
burglars…by taking your boxes to a burglar box instead of leaving them out in
front of your home, you can help possibly prevent a break in to your home.
