I say this all the time. Living in Florida is amazing. We have great weather all year round, we are
never more than one hour from the beach, regardless of where we live, and we
get almost endless sunshine. There are,
however, things we have to do differently than other folks to make sure our
homes are properly cared for:

Attic. This will probably be the last time you want to be in the attic for the next few months, when it is unbearably hot…so…whatever needs to be done up there, DO IT NOW! Any type of storage, throwing things out, organization, repairs…get it done now.
Landscaping. Want to plant some new hedges? Bring some new greenery onto your property? For the most part, this is one of the best times of year to do landscaping, because the overly hot summers are again too harsh for fresh landscaping. Do it while its not so hot, so as to not stress the flora/fauna too much.
Large items. Check with your local city/county…for instance, in Altamonte Springs, from March 27-April 7, there’s “Spring Clean Up” where any large items(couches, appliances, large trees) are picked up free of charge without having to make any extra arrangements(For details on this program, click here.) Sometimes, you may have to call and schedule those pickups, and in certain instances, you may be charged.
Drainage/gutters. It is coming…right around the corner. With our endless sunshine, also comes seemingly endless rain. Make sure your gutters are in tip top shape. Any spots on your property where water seems to collect should be taken care of now.
AC. Service your ac, make sure it is good for another summer.
Quick tip on your windows…consider tinting the windows to your home. It will help reduce the heat from the sun beaming through.
There’s plenty more tips to give,
but following these simple steps will be a great start to make sure your home
is in tip top condition!
